What is a crown vs. onlay?
The difference between a crown and an onlay is what exactly?
A crown is a hand-crafted ceramic or gold cover that restores your tooth to its natural structure.
An onlay is a specialized partial covering of the tooth that maintains part of your existing tooth structure while replacing the decay.
If you have too many fillings in a tooth, it can become compromised and break, which can cause you to lose the tooth. To prevent the loss of the tooth, we recommend to our patients they either crown the tooth or cover the tooth with a protective onlay.
