Procedure Home-Care

POST OPERATIVE HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Now that we have placed a temporary crown, it is important to follow these recommendations to ensure the success of your final restoration.

• If we used anesthetic during the procedure, avoid chewing until the numbness has completely worn off.

• Avoid eating or drinking for one half- hour to allow the temporary cement to set.

• To keep the temporary crown in place, avoid chewing on hard or sticky foods.

Brushing and Flossing

Brush normally, but floss very carefully.

If you use an electric toothbrush, like a Sonicare or Oral B, turn it off around your temporary crown. The vibration may cause the temporary crown to become loose.

Remove floss from the side to prevent removal of the temporary. Please do not pull the floss back toward the top of the tooth.

Need to contact us?

Call our office if your temporary crown comes off. Save the temporary, if not broken, so it can be re-cemented. It is very important for the temporary to be in place to avoid shifting of other teeth and also causing the final restoration onto not fit.
